Ushers
Our most popular job. Greet the public, seat them and then watch a great show. Each performance night needs 2-3 ushers. Call in advance to sign up/or send us an e-mail. This requires a modest commitment. Opening nites we also have a reception so some "serving" assistance is needed.
Ushers are needed for each night of performance. You arrive 45 minutes BEFORE the start of performance and stay 15 minutes AFTER the show has ended. You will take tickets and show the audience to their seats both before the show and after intermission. And of course, we need ushers for our children's shows too! Yes, you can sign up to usher for the whole season.
Set Construction
Are you handy with tools? Actors' Summit can use your help building our sets. At our theater, sets are designed by Bob Stegmiller, and constructed by Neil Thackaberry, along with several of our regular actors. Here is agreat opportunity to meet some super people and to see your work under lights.
Call or e-mail Neil, and let him know your skill level. We need people who are somewhat skilled, and have worked with power tools. In all cases, Neil will supervise the construction project, so don't panic, you will always have a "buddy" at hand. Daytime and weekend projects.

Painting
We always need help painting on the sets. And we can use everyone's talents, from novice to pro. Again, we will help you thru the project. Daytime and weekends.

Lighting
Can you climb a ladder? Lighting is always done under the direction of our professional staff. But we need help "Hanging" lights. This schedule varies with the designers schedule.

Data Entry, Mailings, Phones
Can you type? We can use your help entering information into our data bases, from mailing lists to program copy. Can you staff the phone, while we are in rehearsal? A couple of hours here and there really makes a big difference. Daytime and weekends.

Advertising
Can you sell advertising in our program? Ads help underwrite some of thecosts in producing our shows. And we do not have a traditional marketing staff. Can you sell an ad in our program to your employer? To your friends? One full page ad can make a huge difference for us.

Costumes
Most shows have very specific costume requirements. Can you sew? Do you have a machine? Let us know your skill level and interest. Because we are a small theater, and do not have a traditional "costume" shop, a certain amount of flexibility in work style is needed. We can send some projects home to sew, so you can work around your own schedule.

Props
One of the most challenging areas of any show. Creating and managing the props during the "run". Props are anything from a letter to a sandwich and everything in between that helps the actors tell the story of the play. Props generally have two distinct areas "acquiring" and "running". Acquiring props means taking a list developed by the director, designer and playwright and finding those objects; maybe a cup and saucer or a samovar (Russian tea-service); or tea and cookies, maybe a large Italian dinner. Once found, and approved by the designer and director, then preparing them for each night of performance-"running" props. (Imagine having a large meal, on stage, every night!) This requires a certain attention to detail, and an ability to do limited repetitive tasks.

Theater Prep
Just before we open each show we need help "sprucing" up the theater. Sweeping, putting away tools, general housekeeping duties. Making sure everything looks just right for the opening. Lots of energy is all that's needed here.

Phone crew
Some very special volunteers are needed to make the calls to gather special help or talent for certain projects.
When do we need your help? Each show has different requirements, but generally look at our season calendar, and count backwards, about 5 weeks before the opening date for set construction, costume and props work. About 2 weeks before each show opens we need to fine tune the details--props and lights- finish painting, start the clean up. And of course, opening week is VERY hectic, and "many hands make light work".
So here's your opportunity to try something new. Call (330-342-0800) or e-mail info@actorssummit.org MaryJo or Neil.
